If you have a legacy PeopleSoft machine, you may install the software from the Software Library. ( NOTE: The Software Library entry will not work properly for legacy J.D. Edwards machines. Such users should NOT load the software from there.)

  1. Open Lotus Notes, then open the Software Library by clicking the bookmark link.

  2. Click the Standard Software Package Installs icon.

  3. Click By Package Name.  This view will probably already be showing as it is the default view.

  4. Look for the entry PDFWriter, Distiller and double click on it to open it.

  5. READ the instructions on the page. They include information on the charge to your department for downloading the software and how to download it.

Converting an MS Office file to a PDF file

Once you've installed the program, a new "printer" icon is added to your machine. To convert a file, follow these steps:

  1. Open the file in the Office application.

  2. Click on the File menu, and then on Print...

  3. From the Na me field, click on the drop-down arrow and choose Acrobat PDFWriter.

  4. Click OK.

  5. Instead of actually printing the file, you will get a screen that will ask you to Save PDF File As.

  6. Navigate to an appropriate drive and directory.

  7. Type in a name for the file in the File name: field.

  8. The ".pdf" will be added automatically.

  9. You'll see a printing progress screen.

When the process is complete, you will have a *.pdf file in the designated directory.

Note: Animations in a PowerPoint presentation will be lost. The slides may appear differently than what you see in PowerPoint, so you should check them before posting or sending out the pdf file.
