How to use the foreign language spell checker in Access 97

Foreign language dictionaries in Microsoft Access 97 allow you to select the language in which they want their documents to be spell-checked. The default language is American English. Click on the information you would like about foreign language use in Microsoft Access 97:

Note: If you change the spell checker dictionary for any database, it will be change for all data in alldatabases until you change it again. Unlike Microsoft Word 97 and Microsoft PowerPoint 97, there are no wavy red underlines that indicate a misspelled word in an Access 97 database. You have to run the spell checker to find the errors.

To spell-check a database using one of the supported languages, follow these steps. For information about supported languages, see Eureka! document 15117 — How to use the foreign language spell checker in Word 97.

Open an existing database and open a table, query, or form.
Click on the Tools menu, then on Spelling... or press the { F7} key.
- Note: In order for the spelling options screen to appear, you may have to intentionally misspell a word. Otherwise, you may only get a message that the spelling check is complete.
On the Spelling screen, click on the Options... button.
Click the down arrow for the drop menu for the Dictionary field and choose from one of the supported languages. For information about supported languages, see Eureka! document 15117 — How to use the foreign language spell checker in Word 97.
You will get a message that you need to restart the spelling checker for the dictionary change to take effect. Click on OK to close the message window.
Close the Spelling window.
Start the spelling checker again.

The spelling checker should now use the dictionary you have specified for all your databases.
