How to change user name for Excel spreadsheets
A default name is used for Microsoft Office installations at PeopleSoft. This name appears when you view the properties of a spreadsheet (under Propert ies on the File menu). Also, if you have a spreadsheet open on a shared drive, a name appears as using the spreadsheet when others try to access it. You may wish to change this name to yours. The first time you launch an Office 2000 application, you may be prompted to enter your name and initials.
Once you change the user name in one Microsoft Office application, the user name will change in all the applications in which you can specify a user name (Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft PowerPoint). The name on the screen that appears briefly when you launch the application will also change. However, there is more information in the Microsoft Word user information setup, and you should make the changes there. For information about changing the user name in Microsoft Word, see Eureka! document 15116 — How to change user name for Microsoft Word documents.
To change the user name while in Microsoft Excel, follow these steps:
Click on the Tools menu, and then on Options...
Click on the General tab.
In the User name field, replace "Pat Smith" with your name as you wish it to appear.
Click on OK.
All spreadsheets created after the user name change should reflect your name changes.
For more information about changing your name in other applications, see the Eureka! name change document — How to request a name change for various applications at PeopleSoft.
