PKZIP replaced WinZip as the PeopleSoft standard file compression software in October 2001. PKZIP can unzip files created by WinZip, and vice versa. If you still have WinZip, and many machines still do, you can try Eureka! document 10034 — How to unzip a file with WinZip. Your machine should be upgraded to PKZip in the near future.

These instructions assume that the file has a "zip" extension.

To unzip a compressed (zip) file, follow these steps:

1. Launch My Computer.

2. Navigate to the drive and directory in which the zip file is located.

3. Double-click on the zip file.

4. PKZIP launches.

5. If you would like to extract only one of the files in the zip file, click once on that filename. If you would like to extract some, but not all of the files, hold down the { Ctrl} key and click on the filename for each file you wish to extract. If you wish to extract all of the files, you don't need to do anything.

6. Click Extract.

7. The Extract window appears. In the Extract to section, navigate to the drive and directory to which you want to extract the chosen files.

8. Once you have chosen the correct location, click the Extract button.

9. The progress screen appears. When the file is extracted, the Done button is activated. Click Done.

Your files are extracted in the chosen location.
