All machines built or rebuilt with the Information Technology profile should have the NorthStar Client, Crystal Reports, and a SQL Server client installed. If you are working with the NorthStar client for a temporary project, or did not receive the applications during your machine build, you may install them using the steps listed here.

• The NorthStar Client application
• Crystal Reports - Required to Print Service Tickets
• A SQL Server client (SQL Server 2000 recommended) - Required to Print Service Tickets

Installing the NorthStar Client application

To install the NorthStar Client application from the Software Library in Lotus Notes:

1. Open Lotus Notes, then open the Software Library by clicking the bookmark link.

• You may need to look in your databases folder for the Software library bookmark .

• If you don't have the Software Library bookmark see document Eureka! document 16250 — How to add the Software Library database link to Lotus Notes for instructions on installing the Software library bookmark.

2. Click the Standard Software Package Installs icon.

3. Scroll until you see the entry Vantive Client 8.55 SP1 for NorthStar and double click on it to open it.

4. Press the button on the page NorthStar with Vantive Client 8.55 SP1.

Installing Crystal Reports

To install Crystal Reports from the Software Library in Lotus Notes:

1. Open Lotus Notes, then open the Software Library by clicking the bookmark link.

• You may need to look in your databases folder for the Software library bookmark .

• If you don't have the Software Library bookmark see document Eureka! document 16250 — How to add the Software Library database link to Lotus Notes for instructions on installing the Software library bookmark.

2. Click the Standard Software Package Installs icon.

3. Scroll until you see the entry Crystal Reports for PeopleSoft and double click on it to open it.

4. There are several versions of Crystal Reports listed, however, Crystal Reports 7 is the standard, supported version used for NorthStar. Press the button on the page Crystal Reports 7.0 for PeopleSoft.

Installing a SQL Server client

A SQL Server client allows Crystal Reports to retrieve the data to print a ticket or run a Crystal Report using NorthStar information. To install Crystal Reports from the Software Library in Lotus Notes:

1. Open Lotus Notes, then open the Software Library by clicking the bookmark link.

• You may need to look in your databases folder for the Software library bookmark .

• If you don't have the Software Library bookmark see document Eureka! document 16250 — How to add the Software Library database link to Lotus Notes for instructions on installing the Software library bookmark.

2. Click the Standard Software Package Installs icon.

3. Scroll until you see the entry Microsoft SQL Server 2000 and double click on it to open it.

4. Press the button on the page Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Client with SP2. This button is in the second section, Installation of SQL Server 2000 Server\Client.
