Connecting to AS/400 using TELNET

Document number: 12159

This is a Level B document - It contains moderately difficult end-user information.

There is a work around for accessing the as/400 when client access is not available. The function keys F13 - F24 will not be available during a Telnet session to an AS/400 system.

  1. Click Start, and select Run.

  2. Type cmd in the "Open" line and click OK. A black-and-white MS DOS window opens.

  3. Type telnet jdec and press the {Enter} key.

  4. This is the screen that will appear.(Click icon to see screen shot: Telnet session to JDEC Screen Shot)

Note: If this does not work for any reason, try typing telnet machine_name.jdedwards.com (for example, type: telnet jdec.jdedwards.com).

  5. Log on to the machine as normal.
