Creating a Company

As you are preparing to create a new company, please keep the following in mind:

  1. Navigate to Customers, Company.

  2. Enter as much of the search criteria as you have and click the Search button. If the Company you're looking for exists, click on it to open that Company component.

    If the Company you're looking for does not exist, click on the Add a New Value tab, enter the Company name in the (required) Company Name field and then click the Search button.

    If, after clicking the Search button, the company does not show up in the results list, then click on the No Match Found button and search for the company in OneSource.

    a. If the company you are searching for is found in OneSource, click the Green Arrow Icon to the left of the company name. You will then go to the Create Company page. Click the Create Company button.

    OR

    b. If the company you are searching for is not found in OneSource, click the No Match Found button. You will then go to the Create Company page.


  3. Complete the following required header fields on the Company-Add New Company page: Company Name, (Company) Name Type, Industry, Country, Address and Annual Revenue and click the Create Company button.

  4. Save the Company.

  5. Enter as much information as you have into the remaining fields and tabs, including the address, representatives, and account team members.

Company Tab

Primary Sub-Page

Used to define basic account information such as the website, profile info, and address summary.

Name Sub-Page

Used to store various names of a company. The primary name will appear each time the Company appears in Customer1. For example, you might enter “3M” as the company’s legal name (and primary name), but you may also list “Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing Company” and “MMM” as alternative names.

Address Sub-Page

Used to define and store all the addresses of a company. The primary address will appear each time the Company appears in Customer1.

Phone Sub-Page

Used to hold phone numbers for the company. The primary phone number will appear each time the Company appears in Customer1.

Pager Sub-Page

Used to hold pager numbers for the company. The primary pager number will appear each time the Company appears in Customer1.

Email Sub-Page

Used to hold email addresses for the company. The primary email address will appear each time the Company appears in Customer1.

Site Tab

Used to specify physical locations where the company operates and/or has a PeopleSoft product installed. Sites are primarily used by Call Center.

Representatives Tab

Used to associate all business contacts and their respective contact information for a Company.

Notes / Attachments Tab

Used to record details and miscellaneous information about a Company.

Roles Tab

Used to identify if a company is a competitor, partner, or other named role in Customer1.

Relationships Tab

Provides the ability to view and create relationships with Roles. Relationships are internal or external contact paths between objects such as Sites, Representatives, and Companies. For example, adding a site to a company automatically creates the “site < -- > company” relationship.

Metrics Tab

Provides a flexible means of tracking metric types for a company. The metrics tracked are Number of Employees, Number of Students, Number of Beds or Operating Budget. Annual Revenue is located on the Primary sub-page.

Reference Tab

Used to record products and services the company is willing to be a reference for and their balance of earned reference points.

Account Tab

Lists all people assigned to manage the account and provides access to the account plan.

Purchasing Options Tab

Not currently used in Customer1.

History Tab

Used to keep an audit trail of changes to specific fields within the Company component.
