Territory Tree, Visibility, Sales Team, Task Assignment Issues

Document number: 11399

Individuals with the Sales, Sales Management, Sales Admin, Executive or Financial Controller PeopleSoft Roles and Sales Access Profiles typically have access to Leads and Opportunities based on where they reside on the Territory Tree. They can view and update Leads and Opportunities on the tree node to which they are assigned, and any tree node that branches from theirs. The reason these individuals are on the tree and not others is:

Individuals who need access to Leads and/or Opportunities but do not fall into the three categories above (typically Marketing LM NA, Marketing LM Admin NA, Marketing International, Marketing Reader, Reader, and Report Reader) can obtain access to Leads and Opportunities through the Visibility in their Sales Access Profile. Based on their visibility, they can access leads and opportunities through the reports and inquires, as well as through the Lead and Opportunity Detail pages if they can view unassigned leads assigned to the Opportunity's Sales Team, or have been assigned a Task in the Lead/Opportunity.

Individuals who do not need access to all the Leads and/or Opportunities of a Territory node or its branches can obtain access to individual Opportunities by being added to the Opportunity's Sales Team or by being assigned to a task within the Lead or Opportunity. The Sales Team is controlled by the Opportunity owner, while the Tasks are controlled by the Lead or Opportunity owner.
