Rejecting a Lead

Document number: 11311

Once you determine that a Lead is no longer a valid sales possibility, you have the option of rejecting it. The system requires that you change the status of the Lead to Rejected and provide a reason. This lets Lead Management and Sales Management identify the major reasons leads fall out of the sales pipeline.

If you want to reject a lead:

  1. Navigate to Manage Sales, then Manage Sales Leads.

  2. Click on Use and select Sales Lead Details. Then open the lead you want to reject.

  3. Change the Status of the Lead to Rejected from the drop-down list.

  4. Select a Reject Reason from the drop-down list. Valid options are: Already Customer, Already Forecast/Pipeline, Choose Not to Complete, Company too Small, Duplicate Lead, Insufficient Funding/Budget, No Product Fit, Project Cancelled, Project Postponed, Project not Funded, Purchase Time frame too Long, Resources Unavailable, Wrong Sales Rep.

  5. Enter the Virtual Sales Username in the Lead Owner field, and save the record. For information on determining the Virtual Sales User, see Eureka! document 11464 — Virtual Sales User/Lead Assignment Matrix.

Your lead is now rejected.

In some cases, when changing the status of the lead to "Rejected," users get the error message product group, product, quantity, revenue type are required for product details (20300,11). This is because if there is information in the Products section of the Lead record, the system requires that the information be complete before the record is saved.

If you want to reject a lead and you get this error message, you can do one of two things to save the record normally:
