Once a Lead is assessed as a potential Sale, the Sales Rep is ready to convert the Lead to an Opportunity.
Notes:
Before you can convert a Lead to an Opportunity, at least one
Product is required.
Once a lead is converted, all fields on the Lead are read only and can be viewed only from a link on the new opportunity.
Steps to navigate to converting a Lead to an Opportunity:
- From the home page, navigate to
Manage Sales, then click on
Manage Sales Leads.
- Select
Use, then
Sales Lead Details.
- Click on the icon
View Details.
- Click
Convert Lead to Opportunity button.
Following is a description of the fields involved in converting a Lead to an Opportunity.

Select (checkbox): If you are linking the Lead to an existing Opportunity, click the checkbox next to the appropriate Opportunity record. The check box is disabled for opportunities you are not authorized to access.

Create New Opportunity (checkbox): If you are creating a new Opportunity from this Lead, click this checkbox.

Select Data to Copy: The information you want to copy from the Lead to the Opportunity. Contacts, Products, and Campaign default as checked. Additional information to copy to the Opportunity is Tasks, Attachments, and Partners.

Estimated Close Date: Required field. Enter the date you anticipate closing this deal.

Forecast Type: This field is used as a variable for assigning confidence levels. When saving an opportunity, the system checks to make sure the value in this field coincides with the Estimated Close Date.
If the Estimated Close date is within the current quarter, valid options are: Closed, Commit, Upside or Stretch.
If the Estimated Close date is outside of the current quarter, valid options are: Pipeline A, B, or C.

Opportunity Type: Enter the Opportunity Type. Valid values are Add On, Add on Deferred-In, Blind Discounts, Deferred-Out, and New Deferred-In.

OK (button): Click this button to complete the Lead conversion.

Cancel (button): Click this button to cancel the Lead conversion.
After you complete the above steps, you will then be taken to a new page where you will complete the conversion.
- The first step is to link the Lead to an
existing Opportunity or
create a new Opportunity.
- Next, select
data to copy to the opportunity.
- Step 3 is to enter the
estimated close date.
- Click
OK to complete the lead conversion or click
Cancel to cancel the lead conversion.
- Once the lead has been converted, you return to the original lead screen. To go to the new opportunity, select the
Go To Opportunity link.
Linking to an existing Opportunity
- A list will appear of Opportunities your Lead may be linked to.
- Click the check box next to the appropriate Opportunity record to link to the Lead.
- The check box is disabled for Opportunities which you are not authorized to access.

Create a new Opportunity
- If you need to create an Opportunity, click the checkbox next to
Create New Opportunity.

Select Data to Copy to the Opportunity
- Check the boxes next to the infomation you want to copy from the Lead to the Opportunity.

Contacts and
Products will default as checked. You may also select
Tasks,
Fulfillments,
Attachments, and
Campaign.

Estimated Close Date
- Enter the date you anticipate closing the deal.
Note: to avoid Component Interface errors, you must be sure to enter the proper combination of information
-If the Estimated Close Date is within the current quarter, valid Forecast types are
Commit,
Closed,
Upside, and
Stretch.
-If the Estimated Close Date is in a future quarter, valid Forecast types are
Pipeline A,
Pipeline B, and
Pipeline C.
